Cindy over at My Romantic Home {a blog that I absolutely love & read every day!} is having a "Favorite Thing" weekend where we share our favorite thing in our home. Thanks, Cindy! What a fun idea!
Well, If you read my blog than you probably already know what my favorite thing is. I've talked about it before here and here. But, for those who haven't read my blog, I am happy to talk about this piece again! This is my Grandpa's hutch. I love it so much I might marry it!
It holds some old books that belonged to him
and some of my salt & pepper shaker collection.
I love changing things out in it for the holidays. But, I still can't figure out what to put on the long metal stand that's on the middle shelf. If you have any ideas for me, I would love to hear them!

That is so nice and I love how you have it decorated! It's so special that it was your Grandfathers!
Thanks so much for joining in!
Such a dear and sentimental item of furniture! What a treasure for you to be able to use your grandpa's hutch and fill it with special keepsakes of his! I love it!

That is a beautiful hutch indeed. A great memory.
An idea for the middle shelf is that you can just go around your house and whatever you see that reminds you of him(doesn't have to be his) can go on the shelf? just a thought. (:
Excellent hutch. I can see why you'd want to marry it. I have an old TV cabinet that was "shabbified" that I'm tempted to at least become engaged to. ;o)
ohhh i would want to at least date that hutch, too..lol! beautiful..and i love how ya shabbied it up! maybe you could put small picture frames with your grampa's picture and other loved ones on that shelf..or maybe rearrange your salt and peppers on it...

I love what you have already done with it! The perfect thing for the middle shelf will come to you one day. And then you'll say "oh that's perfect!"

I agree that Hutch is Gorgeous. I really love all the salt and pepper shakers too. Jamie
Jamie, that is truly beautiful! I love the special meaning behind it and that you have some of your grandpa's books on it, too... Now I'm going to check out the rest of your blog!...Donna
What a stunning piece of furniture and I love how you've displayed your lovely collections! I'm sure you will treasure this for years and years to come.
Beautiful.
What about silver mercury orbs? They have an antique feel and would reflect light.
What a great treasure you have. I like the salt & pepper shakers. I have some that my grandmother has given me. Thanks for sharing.

I would rearrange your salt and pepper shakers on the shelf...... it would give different levels to your collection..... and room for some on the shelf in front of it and beside it......
I absolutely love your adorable fabulous piece.... I can see why it's your fav...
Such a stunning treasure! I'm not surprised at all why you want to marry it!
I LOVE your hutch, and understand why it is so precious to you. and what a sweet collection!!
I have some family heirlooms and I do love them. So I completely understand. I think your display is beautiful and I'm sure you will come up with something. Love your blog, just found it!
Such a nice little piece. Is there anything that would relate to your grandfather that you could put on the shelf? I'm thinking of things like eyeglasses and vintage books, or if he had a hobby like birdwatching, binoculars and a nest. Perhaps there's something from his life, hobbies, interests or jobs that would make a sentimental display.
