{ Happy Day }

This is me when I was about 5 years old.
I turned 36 today.
Life just keeps going by so quickly!
Happy Birthday to me!

{ My Garden }

I have always wanted to try growning my own vegitables (after seeing the success of Jamie's garden anyway). The problem is I have a very small patio that is shady at least half the day. I wasn't sure it would work. But I decided to give it a try and see how it goes... I mean you never know right? Here's the beginnings of my little garden, still a work in progress. The view from my front door...

My daughter picked out these flowers for the table.

I love hydrangeas so when I saw these I had to get them. Beneath those are my herbs. I've already used some of them in my cooking. Delish!

Again, when I saw these beautiful white daisies I had to get them. They are such a happy flower and make me smile. My daughter chose the little purple ones. Next to the flowers are lettuce, cucumber (which doesn't seem to be growing much, and tomato. There are also some green onion and green beans in planters next to these, but I just started to them sprouting today.

The peas... I love going out and eating the peas fresh out of the pod. I hope these grow well.

I love, love, love my little cactus garden... it reminds me of Grandma and Grandpa.

I'm trying out a hanging strawberry planter too.

The view coming up from the stairs to our house. I love seeing all the green on my patio. I hope I don't kill everything off!

{ Baby Quilt }

I just finished this quilt for a friend of mine who recently had a baby girl.  I've never really quilted before so don't look too closely.  I ordered two Moda Love U charm packs from Ebay...  I just loved all the different fabrics that came in this pack.  I think it turned out pretty cute.  Now that I've gotten a little practice with the quilting, I need to tackle larger ones.  Wish me luck!

{ Birthday Wish List }

I mentioned my birthday was coming up...well, it's the end of this month.
The 26th to be exact!
I know I spoke of it a bit early, but I just get so excited!
I'm such a kid that way!
And since I am such a kid that way,
I made a birthday list, kind of like a Christmas list. :)
It's just a list of frivolous things that I love, mind you.
I don't need any of it, it's just for fun!
But, I think that's what birthdays are for. Fun! A celebration of you!
I think you should receive gifts on your birthday
that you wouldn't necessarily buy for yourself.

So, here we go...
Martha Stewart Collection Plastic Nonskid Mixing Bowls from Macy's {here} or Amazon {here}

Dining Room Measuring Spoons from Anthropologie {here}

Country Living Simple Country Wisdom: 501 Old-Fashioned Ideas to Simplify Your Life from Amazon {here}
Glass Bottles in Willow Basket from Nell's Hill shop {here}

Seek Happiness print on canvas from Ballard Designs {here}

Southern Living Comfort Food: A Delicious Trip Down Memory Lane from Amazon {here}

Wooden Ampersand from French Larkspur {here}

Antique-Silver Ladle & Serving Set from Pottery Barn {here}

Willow Votive Baskets from WhiteFlower FARMOUSE {here}

Metal Basket Shelf from Wisteria {here}

and fresh flowers, especially peonies!

Of course, my most favorite gifts, and I get them every year, are the letters & pictures that come from my kids.
No kidding! I keep all of them!

{ April Fool's }

My kids were so excited to pull this prank on their dad...
He was sure surprised when he woke up early this morning & went out to his office to pay the bills. Ha, ha! They are so funny!

Have a wonderfully mischievous April Fool's Day!
