{ Junk Baskets }

I finished my junk baskets!

Remember when they looked like this?...
I had searched for baskets for a long time that would fit on our steps.
The rectangular ones took up too much stair space & the square ones were too small.
When I found these pail shaped ones, I knew they would be perfect!

You see, I'm always piling my kids' junk left downstairs onto the steps.
Usually, they each have their own step full of junk.
I thought it might be nice to have a basket to contain it.
Nice for me, anyway.
They don't care.

I knew I wanted to line them, but I just couldn't get myself to drag the sewing machine out.
Then, during my daily blog reading, I read on Home & Harmony how she hot glued liners into her baskets.
Brilliant!

These are her baskets.
They are in her totally cute laundry room, by the way.
You really should go over & check it out.
Her home is beautiful.
I, especially, love her her kitchen.

And, yes, I completely copied her basket lining idea.
It was so easy.
I love how they turned out.

Oh, yeah, and the stairs, paint & carpet are finished!
It's so nice to have the house cleaned up & put back together.
I LOVE how the stairs turned out.
What a difference!

By the way, I think I have some permanant nerve damage in my spray painting finger.
I didn't realize how tricky it was to paint baskets.
There are a lot of grooves.
After I was finished, I had a numb finger for two days.
And two weeks later, it still tingles a little.
Do you think I should invest into one of those spray paint handle things?
Do you know of a good one?

Well, here's to lots more spray painting!
Have a great weekend!

Those spray paint handle things are the Ritz and I wouldn't paint without one. I got mine at Walmart for a few dollars and it has lasted a year already. I love your baskets ~ charming idea . . .

I absolutely love the idea of a basket for each kiddo! I usually pile their stuff on the stairs too. I think I'm going to borrow this idea!!!

Cute baskets and nice everything.

Speaking of finger nerve damage: I grated chocolate for the RS dessert a couple months ago, and my finger just now feels normal! I thought I might have to go to the dr. at one point!

Too bad about your finger, but the baskets are a wonderful idea. We also use the stairs to sort things that need to go upstairs and be put away. The baskets are a great idea.

Oh my goodness these baskets are awesome! I love the idea of gluing the liners in. These are just so great! Makes me wish I had stairs. :)

Girl - you NEED that spray paint trigger. I got mine at Walmart for less than $3 and it works like a charm. Fits over any spray paint can. You'll be thanking your lucky stars once you get one. They are really that great.

Your baskets are amazing! They look right out of pottery barn with a hefty price tag to go with it. I think I might copy your idea and try to make some of these myself for my stairs! Now I'm off to check out the rest of your wonderful blog.
Have a happy holiday weekend!

First time visitor over from Home and Harmony. Your version of the baskets is great. Love the chalkboard? label. Yes, you have to get a spray handle attachment. Not only is it so much more comfortable to use but you actually use all the paint in the can with it. I have two different cheap kinds that both work but this one is my favorite:

I'm off to check out the rest of your blog!

I love this idea! I'm always throwing some kind of somethin'-or-other onto the steps to go up. Will have to find some baskets. Thanks for posting!

BTW, you MUST invest in the spray-paint nozzle! It relieves your finger, is inexpensive and gives you a more even coverage with less drips. It will make your life SO much easier!! {I got mine from Home Depot}

Love your baskets. I too am looking for something to put on my stairs to corral all the junk that gets set there. It's such a safety hazard! Where did you find these baskets if I may ask?
